Author: J.G. Riley

Meet J.G. Riley, Liverpool's unofficial historian, and full-time wanderer. Born a little to the left from the heart of Liverpool, J.G. Riley's expertise in the city isn't just academic—it's practically in his DNA. To this day, he wanders around staring at the many buildings of Liverpool. He also likes riding in and out of Lime Street so he can stare at the lime tunnels. Having roamed the streets of Liverpool and worked in the city centre, J.G. Riley has an intimate, almost suspiciously close relationship with every nook, cranny, and historical cobblestone this city has to offer. He's like a human GPS, but for historical facts and quirky anecdotes, except that his sense of direction is really bad. J.G. Riley continues to devour books about Liverpool's history with the same enthusiasm a seagull shows for chips. His insights are backed by extensive research, heartfelt passion, and an uncanny ability to remember things other than his own, often causing friends to mistake him for a walking, talking encyclopedia, or somebody with issues. In this blog, J.G. Riley aims to share the incredible, sometimes bizarre, and always fascinating history of Liverpool. From the Beatles to ghost stories that would give your grandma a run for her money, he covers it all. He's dedicated to providing accurate, trustworthy content that's as entertaining as finding a £10 note in an old pair of jeans. So, whether you're a lifelong Liverpudlian, a curious visitor, or someone who just loves a good story with a side of historical facts, you're in the right place. Join J.G. Riley on a whimsical, factual, and occasionally hilarious journey through the streets and stories of Liverpool. After all, who needs a time machine when you've got a website like this?
